For two months I’ve shared quantification of the inherent ineffectiveness of homemade cloth masks. No government agency or health advisory board specifically defines proper weave dimensions and percent permeability. This is suspect.

The responses I receive range from “You’re not a scientist” (I am, with significant professional experience in mechanical respiratory filters) to absolute silence.

All of this lends itself to the conclusion exaggerating the need for masks is more about helping people FEEL safe and less about helping people BE safe.

And that’s okay. Molifying the masses is good government.
