With few exceptions, when I’m reading posts from a contact on Facebook and I feel a noticable twinge of “I don’t like reading this nonsense,” I don’t unfriend, block, and burn the individual in effigy using the purifying power of fire. There must be a reason or two we’re connected on Facebook. So I instead unfollow the person. I do this because I’m not an intolerant neophyte to the human condition. This “say something I don’t like and you’re dead to me forever” social strategy is why the ideological rift is so torn and deep.
I’m still going to mock people (but not ad hominem attack). I’m not fully immune to immature interaction with people online.
