I just read the “how to join NATO” instructions on NATO.int. Two passages caught my attention.

  • “Open Door” policy. Any European country can apply for NATO membership.
  • All NATO member countries must agree on new members.

Reading the room, EU leaders are publicly standing with Ukraine but are dodging joining up with the UK and French Coalition of the Willing.

It’s more than doubtful America is going to join the Coalition or agree to Ukraine membership in NATO. That goes against the will of the American people and President Trump respects the American people. This shouldn’t deter our NATO allies from forming a “NATO Lite” that extends Article 5 rights to just any country they want. Our sovereign decisions shouldn’t keep our allies from doing what they think is the right thing to do.
