Is Zelensky dumb? The mineral materials agreement he came to the White House to sign is exactly the type of security guarantee he’s demanding. When America has economic interests to protect, by default Ukraine is protected.
Is Zelensky dumb? I’m sure this was explained to him. Did he understand? Maybe. Let’s see how things play out without US involvement. Kiev might just get renamed Putingrad.
Our NATO allies have an important proctological task to perform. They need to surgically excise Zelensky’s head from his rectum and help him face the reality of his country’s losing situation.
If Zelensky can’t muster the mettle to feign gratitude, perhaps he can pull off grumbling contrition. Zelensky is the epitome of the tail wagging the dog.
I never bought into “Stand With Ukraine” woke virtue signaling. And I never acquiesced to “I at least stand with the Ukrainian people.” I know almost nothing about Ukraine and as far as I know the Ukrainian people might be a culture comprised entirely of raging assholes. What I do support is the sanctity of necessary border countries in Europe, a buffer zone for our European NATO allies. The size and shape of Ukraine doesn’t matter. We just need some physical real estate between the west and the east.
Zelensky’s baffling childish antics have one upside. It’s forcing our NATO allies to be independent of American leadership and take care of their own backyard. We don’t mind letting our allies borrow the lawnmower. We’ll even throw in money for the gas. They just need to mow their own lawn.
I imagine Zelensky grew accustomed to bullying Biden into giving him whatever he wants. Let’s see if that strategy works out with President Trump.
