There was a guy in college who bragged endlessly about how he designed and built by hand a dollhouse so ornate and beautiful a renowned dollhouse collector fell in love with his masterful artistic creation on single sight and offered him $60,000 for the dollhouse. When he refused to sell it, the collector then offered $80,000. Again, the dollhouse artist refused. Finally, at an offer of $100,000, the dollhouse artist agreed and sold his work of art. The collector beamed of having the finest dollhouse ever created.

While my friends commented in awe and appreciation, so very impressed by the artistic merit and much more impressed by the $100,000 sale price, I had but one question:

You designed and built an original dollhouse and sold this dollhouse for $100,000 … and you only built the one?

Directed energy weapons are tantalizingly nifty to theorize, but there is one hiccup. Why has it been used only once?
