The hijacking of “woke” from representing something reportedly noble to a pejorative descriptor of leftist policy succeeded. The leftist attempt to do the same with “MAGA” failed.

It’s been an academically interesting evolution to observe “woke” application and “MAGA” application over the last few years, and it’s one broad indication of where American values realistically reside. American values attach derision to being “woke.” Being “MAGA” is being one of the cool kids. Just look at that. Wild.

So, about the term “woke” and its societal definition, particularly who owns the term and its definition. It’s more appropriate for “woke” as a term of nobility to find a new word to describe the nobility. For better or worse, and again realistically, “woke” is permanently hijacked and it’s never reversing course. “Woke” as a term represents nothing good anymore.
