The people of Iceland saved a coastal town from a lava flow using water pumped from the ocean and sprayed upon the lava until it hardened.

There’s a huge ocean right there next to Los Angeles. It’s feasible to build an infrastructure to use ocean water for fire suppression in emergencies, making the city less susceptible to the vagaries of drought, bad leaders, and ludicrous environmental policies keeping water from American citizens in peril.

A fire doesn’t care if the water extinguishing it is salty or not.
