There is an older dude named Carroll who feigned ignorance of memes, both in purposeful and practical terms. He claimed never to have seen them. Many of us jacked open our phones to show him memes, which he immediately dismissed (with only the briefest glance toward one screen) as “lazy millenial nonsense as bad as twittering.”

Such an instantaneous displeasure betrays he very much knew what memes are and had sadly taken that ugly turn to intransient intolerance.

If asked, I’m confident he also detested single panel humor like “The Far Side.” This explains why dogs and other marsupials don’t like him.
