I remember my first time inpatient at UNM after another go at offing myself. There was a girl in detox off some substance and definitely co-occurring. She was handcuffed to a gurney with a guard at her side, stuffed down a corridor by herself, screaming obsenities and in physical DT pain. I remember making her an origami crane and walking to her and giving her the crane. The guard stepped up and pushed me physically to where I stumbled back and into the wall. Hard. She stopped screaming and said “Thank you.”
This is a good memory.
