Let’s be plain about it. It’s much less upsetting having the economy locked down if one is financially secure with little risk of losing one’s financial security. Relatedly, it’s far too easy to believe this economic lockdown is worth the sacrifice in the name of flattening the curve and crushing the virus when in a position of financial security, and to be critical of those motivated by meeting their everyday needs, such as housing, utilities, food, transportation, childcare, and health insurance.

What must be recognized and respected is there is more than one way to perish from the coronavirus. To many, financial ruin is a devastating death. Please have humanity.
