At the time I honestly believed this was a Saturday Night Live parody commercial. I thought, “Wow, SNL is kind of funny again.”

But this is a real product and a real commercial.

Even then, there was something sinisterly racist about growing out a green afro on a partially black president’s terra cotta head.
