This week was the week to observe Threads. If it’s the Twitter Killer media claims it is I didn’t observe this. There is no threat of Threads replacing Twitter.

Here’s why.

Meta/fb’s Threads platform mirrors the same mistake conservatives made with fb. When trying to make a replacement for fb – free of Proggie censorship – it wasn’t going to work because nothing innovative was offered to entice middle-of-the-road users. For all its Proggie censorship failings, fb is the best version of fb out there.

This applies to Threads the same. Proggies attempting to make a Twitter replacement where they can reassert censorship was bound to fail because – for all of Twitter’s censorship-free success Proggies hate – there’s nothing innovative offered with Threads to attract middle-of-the-road users. Twitter is the best version of Twitter out there.

Does Threads offer anything new and exciting not found on any other social media platform? Does Threads provide a unique way for users to interact that is fun, novel, and addictive? Does Threads improve upon the long established Twitter model? Is Threads innovative?

No.

Threads bet its entire success on majority share Twitter users longing for the good ol’ days of rampant woke censorship. Predictably, Threads is merely itchy background noise that is no threat to Twitter’s escalating success. It took less time than I thought to reach this inevitability. Much less.

As an aside, I’m uncertain why Proggies keep claiming Twitter is failing and dying when ongoing data indicates Twitter is flourishing and growing. Unless what is being said by Proggies is this:

When Elon saved Twitter from censorship, Twitter failed me and now Twitter is dead to me.

That is an honest assessment I’ll validate.
