There’s angst, turmoil, and ideological loggerheads over the Jason Aldean tune “Try That in a Small Town.” I’ve not really taken much note of the song but by public impression the song is over the top woke-phobic. So I’m now necessarily curious. Just how hateful is this song?

I better read the lyrics.

These are the examples (from the lyrics) of what you should NEVER DO in a small town, for it appears you will get your fuzzy bunny butt whomped by the locals if you do:

  • Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk.
  • Carjack an old lady at a red light.
  • Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store.
  • Cuss out a cop, spit in his face.
  • Stomp on the flag and light it up.

Are these really what woke proggies are having difficulty with, that these are the type of actions we must condone and if not condoned it’s anti- and -phobic and hate? For the most part these seem like universally despicable actions for a person to commit. An oddly off-putting value system this is, defending such heinous aggression. Nothing is mostly peaceful about these actions. Not one bit.

Relatedly, here are examples of what Rick Astley will NEVER DO:

  • Never gonna give you up.
  • Never gonna let you down.
  • Never gonna run around and desert you.
  • Never gonna make you cry.
  • Never gonna say goodbye.
  • Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.

Rick Astley obviously grew up in a small town. Lovely man, that Rick Astley.
